THE TRAIN WRECKThe problem with the train started a long time before the actual crash. There were signs of money missing, emotional abuse, obsessive behavior and unsuccessful treatment programs. When the train wreck finally occurred, I did not realize that we were both riding on that same train. We both were injured from the train wreck but the only difference was when the ambulance came to administer first aid, they did not see me! I had this sinking feeling as they placed my wife in the ambulance and drove off. All I remember was the screaming, WHAT,ABOUT ME! ! ! ! ! In the recovery or rehabilitation of my wife's injuries I heard things said like, 90 meetings in 90 days, your wife needs to focus on her treatment, you're a codependent and you had enabled in the disease of alcoholism. I remember saying to myself: "When was it going to be my time to get treatment?" I was still bleeding and hurt from the wreck, but where was my help? Then I realized that I had to find my own medical help. I found treatment from a group called AL-NON. With time and a lot of care from my brothers and sisters in the group, my wounds slowly started to heal. I realized that the answer for my recovery did not lie in the type of treatment that my wife received, but in my own type of program. That program is AL-NON. There is help out there. WE JUST NEED TO FIND IT. God Bless, Brian D.
